Something for every age — and a place for you.
Our goal is that everything we do is useful in spiritual development as followers of Christ. Bible study, worship, serving one another, fellowship with believers, and working together to share the great news with the whole world will stretch our spiritual muscles and nourish us for further development. The following are programs focused specifically to encourage spiritual growth. You are invited to discover the person God always intended you to become!
Children
Our children’s ministry is led by Alejandra Martinez, Children’s Minister. Alejandra joined us in Fall 2025 after serving as Children’s Pastor at First Baptist Church, Athens, Texas, and works full-time at the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco as a Foster Care Case Manager — caring for kids isn’t just her Sunday job, it’s her whole life’s work.
We offer these regular programs:
- Sunday School — 9:45 to 10:50 am. A Sunday School class for ages 4 through 5th grade, staffed with two great adults who love children and teach the Bible in an age-appropriate manner.
- K.I.C. — “Kids In Christ” — Wednesdays, ages 4 through 5th grade. Dinner starts at 5:45 pm; the program starts at 6:10 pm. Bible stories, games, songs, snacks, and FUN! So make plans to come and bring a friend!
- Nursery — provided for children under age four during Sunday School (9:45–10:50 am) and the worship service (11:00 am–12:15 pm), staffed by dedicated nursery workers (Kim Meredith and Sherry Amaro) and a host of rotating volunteers. All preschool, children, and youth workers at CBBC must be approved through a thorough application process and background check.
- Summer Camp — Children who have completed grades 3–5 have the opportunity to attend Latham Springs Camp near Aquilla, TX.
All people are important to Jesus, especially children. We are committed to loving, teaching, and playing with children during these important years as they discover their world and the God who created it. We have a goal that:
- Every child understand that he/she is loved by God and his/her church.
- Every child grow in understanding God’s ways through the Scriptures.
- Every child grow in choosing actions that reflect Jesus.
- Every child come to saving faith in Jesus as he/she matures.
- Every child enjoy active engagement in church.

Youth
Chalk Bluff Youth desires to provide a place and experience where students feel welcomed and comfortable while discovering their own unique purpose in life. It is our prayer that every student experiences the love of Christ and that true spiritual transformation occurs. We understand that being a youth in today’s culture is tough and we at Chalk Bluff want to challenge and help students find their identity in Christ through genuine community and relationships. We hope you join us in the amazing things God is doing here at Chalk Bluff Youth!
For students grades 7–10 (7th grade through Sophomores).
Wednesday nights (school year) — Meal 5:45 pm · Bible Study 6:15–8:30 pm, led by Caleb Hogue, Youth Minister, with Caleb Wheeler, Youth Minister Intern. Wednesday nights have been growing — what started as a handful of students is now a room of 16–20 most weeks — and our youth take up the offering every Sunday morning.
Summer schedule note: over the summer, Youth meets Sunday afternoons on alternating weeks instead of Wednesday nights — check our Facebook or the church calendar for this week’s exact time.
Adults
Sunday School — 9:45 am, classes for all ages, including the Berean Class for adults.
Community Group — Sundays 9:45–10:45 am. Meeting alongside Sunday School, the Community Group is a different kind of adult gathering, built around conversation: about thirty minutes of structure — a quote from church history, questions worth chewing on, and a Scripture passage for reflection and prayer — and then unhurried time for open conversation and learning one another’s names. If a Sunday School class feels like a big first step, start here.
Adult Bible Study — Wednesdays 6:30–7:15 pm. A midweek deep breath: Bible study and prayer together, often picking up Sunday’s sermon for further conversation.
Music & Worship
Our worship is blended — vocals and choir, piano and guitar, beloved hymns from the Baptist Hymnal alongside newer songs — led by Worship Minister Lydia Tate, with Van Chaney at the piano. Choir Practice — Wednesdays 7:30 pm. If you sing or play, there’s a place for you.
Missions & Outreach
We pray, give, and go. As part of the Waco Regional Baptist Association and a partner of Tri-Cities Ministries, we serve our closest neighbors in Chalk Bluff, Elm Mott, Lacy Lakeview, and north Waco — and through our cooperative giving with Texas Baptists (BGCT), our support reaches missionaries around the world.
